Singer / Songwriter / Flutist / Composer / Scoring

 

​Started to learn classical piano at age 7 and flute at 10. YenTing sang in choir during age 9-12, then joined school orchestra and started her first pop band in her high school period.

 

Inspired by Joss Stone and Aretha Franklin, she learned to sing soul music while playing piano by herself, and won some singing competitions. Later on, She began to know more about jazz when she was 20 by attending International Taipei International Summer Jazz Academy (TISJA), taught by Tutu Puoane and Amanda Tiffin, two vocal teachers from South Africa. she was once selected as outstanding student to go to Tokyo Senzoku music institute to perform and short-term exchange. After TISJA, she founded the jazz club in NCKU in 2011, and started to perform as a jazz singer since then.  

 

During her exchanging year(2013-2014) in Stockholm, she held some concerts with local jazz musicians such as Andy Fite, Bengt Ernryd and Erik Kjellberg. During that period she focused more on her songwriting, and thus had her songwriting concert once in Izzy Young’s Folklore Centrum, Stockholm on April 26 2014, and once in Taipei in September 19 2014. 

 

 In 2015 Taipei Jazz Festival, she performed with NTU Riot Jazz orchestra as a lead vocalist, and was selected to perform in Youth Elite Ensemble. She's now studying Jazz vocal and flute in Conservertarium van Amsterdam.
